Dorotheer Rösche and Caroline Ventilation Shaft

As soon as there are changes, we will inform you immediately. As early as the 18th and 19th centuries, over 20,000 visitors, including Goethe and Heine, visited the Clausthal mines Dorothea and Caroline. They were the most profitable mines in the Upper Harz. On this tour you go to part of the former energy supply for the two pits - the Dorotheer Rösche. It led the used water from the mountain and the next water wheels below.

What you can experience here

Equipped with a helmet, protective jacket, boots and lights, the mine is explored. At the end of the tour you climb 20 meters (ladders) to the daylight in the Caroliner weather shaft.
